Session Details

My portfolio can give a fair idea of what I do. If you want to book me and have your own vision of how you want the pictures I am willing to accommodate but please let me know prior to the session. I try to make sure that the  theme of the shoot is well discussed and thought through. You will set the mood of the picture so I try not to dictate poses. Just do what you are comfortable at… I will help if needed. To me it is important that you look natural and at ease.

LOCATION

To me location is very important as I am mainly working outdoors with natural light. I have done fields, parks, streams, skyscrapers, grungy parts of old town in and around Shanghai and loved all of them. You can pick the theme and I can suggest the location. Yes I can take picture inside your house but we may have to work extra in terms of light.

TIME

For an outdoor early morning or late afternoon works best for me though my preference changes year around. For an indoor session any time is good when everyone is relaxed. A session lasts about 2 hours so if kids are involved then they should be well fed and rested. In bad weather or health conditions we reschedule.  Just let each other know as soon as we discover any.

WHAT TO WEAR?

One of the toughest and most important decisions is how to dress up for a shoot. Well, the criteria is that looking at the pictures 20 years from now you should not regret the choice that you made that day. I recommend timeless clothing in light colors though my clients have done otherwise and proven me wrong.  If you are a couple or a family wear what compliments each other. Everyone dress up (or dress down) to the same extent. I am not against colors I love them it is just that it needs better coordination. Accessories are welcome and can really set a certain mood. Favorite books, family heirlooms, toys, baskets, umbrellas and mugs are also great props. Just send me a few pictures beforehand so that I am prepared.

Be yourself and do not over direct the kids as it after forced smiles and best behaviors that their personality emerges. Too much preparation can overwhelm them. Keep them in mind while choosing location, clothes and time.
